July 22, 2000 (Sacramento Raceway): The point’s battle has tightened up with Steve Tryon making leaps and bounds. The Mesa, AZ driver wasn’t even in the Top 10 a few races ago and is now just one round out from taking the points lead.

Tryon second victory came at the annual Sacramento FoxHunt presented by Napa Auto Parts. During first round of eliminations, Tryon faced off with rookie Adam Sorokin. Sorokin qualified Dave Smith's Firebird #1 with a near perfect 7.502. The rookie fell off pace as Tryon clicked off a superb 7.51. During the semi-finals, Tryon used a holeshot to disposed of Jim Maroney on a 7.61 - 7.56 decision.

Making waves on the other side of the ladder was the Estrus Camaro of Ed Schwarz and Richard Stannard. This duo advanced with a 7.65 in the opening frame when Sean Dale redlit. During the semi-finals, they dodge a bullet when the converter went away but earned a spot in the final when Jim Maher broke out with a 7.48.

Stannard/Schwarz couldn’t make the final call which brought back the fast loser (Jim Maroney) to face off with red-hot Tryon’s 59 Corvette. It was Tryon’s day with a victorious 7.75.

The Perma-Cool Burnout Challenge was won by Chuck Vanness while Jim Maher pocketed the Enderle Quick Reaction Time bucks. The top five have been shuffled and it’s still anyone’s game with 3 races remaining.
