Octane Fest Results - Top Gun Raceway Fallon, NV

The California Independent Funny Car Association (CIFCA) presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports has returned to Top Gun Raceway after a few years Hiatus. Friday night the Hall Bros & Rough-N-Ready racing displayed at Summit Racing in Sparks, NV on the behalf of CIFCA. A huge thank you for helping promote CIFCA and Top Gun Raceway. Going into race day 5 Funny Cars and 1 Altered w/ a Flip Top Body Style showed up.

Qualifying was tight! Everyone struggled to get down to a 7.50 except Bob Sanguino who ran 6.86 off the trailer. After first round of qualifying Bryan Hall was #1 with a 7.95 & Tony Trimp was last with a 8.941. Andre Pegues wasn't able to make the first hit as they were trashing putting the motor together. In round 2 of qualifying everyone knew they had to get closer to that 7.50 number if they wanted to be in the finals. Trimp ended running a 7.897 which was actually good enough for System's #1 Qualifier Award. Shaun Bryan, who won Control Cable's Longest Tow Award, slipped in with a 7.903 but blew a head gaskets. Troxel was right behind him with a 7.921 which was good enough for 3rd and will keep him close in the points series. Hall stepped up every so slightly to a 7.947 with a .071 which was good enough for Aeromotive Fuel System's Revolving qualifer award. Pegues ended up taking the Mike's Transmission burnout contest according to the fans & announcers. Sanguino's 6.86, which is equivalent to a 8.138 would put him 5th and Pegues 8.139 would sit him at the back of the pack.

The final was schedule for 5pm but due to sandstorm the finals were pushed back to 7pm. Shaun Bryan's team worked very hard and even with the extra time, they weren't able to get the car back together. It was great to Harvey Williams with the Rough-N-Ready racing team was over there trying to help them out even though they would've had to race each other. Unfortunately they were not able to get the car fixed handing the win over to Tony Trimp. However we didn't want send Trimp on a single for the final so Bryan Hall stepped up to run an exhibition run against him. Trimp's 7.645 defeated Hall's 7.828 in the "Final" which again was just an exhibition race. Pegues actually closed the show on a single exhibition run to make up for missing first round. Thank you to all teams who showed up! Special Thanks to Ed Bruflat for bringing us back to Top Gun Raceway. Thank you to all over Sponsors.
